Make Your Face Look Younger – Self Hypnosis Technique

How To Make Your Face Look Younger…

This is totally serious. You can improve your face and look younger with this simple yet effective meditation/self hypnosis exercise. After I describe the method, I will explain how and why it works so well.

  1. Get yourself comfortable, either seated or led down, and close your eyes.
  2. Take 10 slow deep breaths and say to yourself the word relax on each out breath.
  3. Focus your attention on your forehead for a minute or two. Make it relax as much as you can.
  4. Move down and focus on your cheeks for a minute or two and concentrate on making them relax as much as possible.
  5. Then do the same, moving down to your jaw, then your tongue, then your neck.
  6. Take 10 more slow deep breaths, again saying to yourself the word relax on each out breath.
  7. Look in the mirror!

Make Your Face Look YoungerIt’s amazing how quickly and how much this exercise can freshen up your face and make your face look younger. It’s a great boost for before you go for a night out.

This works on the same principals as a botox procedure, but without the injection of poison into your face. Most of us carry too much tension in our faces due mainly to stress. Relaxing the muscles in your face helps smooth out wrinkles, and gives you a more youthful glow. The only difference is that it is your mind directing your facial muscles to relax, and not an injection.

Although this exercise is largely a temporary boost, it does provide long term benefits. You become more skilled at relaxing the muscles in your face, and so you see better results over time. Also used regularly, you can actually reverse some of the finer lines in your face, providing a permanent improvement in your looks.

If you want more help, check out my popular hypnotherapy session Hypnotic Botox. It’s over 15 minutes long and can greatly help you relax your facial muscles and smooth out lines…

What Is a Panic Attack?

Jon Rhodes
UK Clinical Hypnotherapist Jon Rhodes

What is a panic attack?

It is normal and natural to get panicky from time to time. You may be late for work, think you can hear a burglar, or ready to sit an exam. These feelings are normal and pass fairly quickly.

These feelings are down to our natural ‘flight or fight’ responses. Your heart beats quicker and your digestive system closes down in order to allow your body to concentrate on the perceived threat.

A panic attack has similarities with this, but there are some differences. A panic attack often occurs when there is no obvious physical threat, and the feelings are stronger than ‘normal’ panic.

What Is a Panic Attack? But remember this – Panic attacks are not dangerous and nothing bad is going to happen to you.

It’s important that you accept this. A panic attack is like a false alarm – like an annoying smoke detector that goes off at the wrong times.

Your ‘alarm system’ was designed millions of years ago when we had more dangers to deal with. We have a lot less potential threats to deal with now, but your body doesn’t know this. Instead we have lots of modern stresses to deal with, that we are not designed to experience. (Check out my article about why stress is like a glass of water).

A large number of people have experienced panic attacks at some point in their lives. Some people get them daily, whereas others get them every few months. They are fairly common and not a sign of mental illness, but they can affect people more if they have conditions such as an anxiety disorder or borderline personality disorder.

Some of the symptoms include:

  • Heart pounding, beating fast, or missing a beat
  • Chest pains
  • Breathing fast or feeling short of breath
  • Numbness or tingling in the fingers toes or lips
  • Feeling sick
  • Feeling faint
  • Feelings of terror
  • Feelings of unreality, like you are not really there
  • Feeling anxious in situations where you have had a panic attack before

People often think negative thoughts, which are untrue, such as:

  • I am having a heart attack
  • I am going to be sick
  • I cannot breath
  • I am going to make an idiot of myself
  • I have to get out of here now

After experiencing a panic attack people sometimes escape the situation they think caused it, and avoid it. This re-enforces the fear. The longer you leave it before facing the situation again, the more your mind is convinced the same will happen.

It is better to quickly face the situation again, even if you need to ‘dilute’ it at first. For example if you had a panic attack in the supermarket, you may wish to visit the supermarket but not go in. For the next step you may wish to go inside, but not buy anything. Next you may wish to do a small shop, or have a friend to go with you. After a while you can gradually get back to normal.

By challenging your fears you become more in control, and the attacks should become less common.

Panic attacks are successfully treated with hypnosis. They are down to your subconscious mind triggering your automatic fear response. Hypnosis can reprogram your subconscious to stop this…

Improve Your Digestion, Tone Your Abs and Lower Your Blood Pressure

Jon Rhodes
UK Clinical Hypnotherapist Jon Rhodes

What if I told you that in just five minutes a day you could improve your digestive system, tone up your abs AND lower your blood pressure? Sounds too good to be true? Just follow these instructions and feel the benefits…

This quick exercise is great to do as soon as you wake up, and just before you go to sleep. If used regularly it aids your digestive system, improve stomach tone and lowers blood pressure. It also leaves you feeling calm and relaxed.

Before you begin I should note that if you feel any pain during this exercise (this is highly unlikely though) then stop immediately and consult a doctor. Here we go…

Improve Your Digestion, Tone Your Abs and Lower Your Blood PressureRest on your back, in bed, with your hands by your sides. Imagine a white, glowing light surrounding you like a protective bubble. Feel the warmth. Take a deep breath as the white light is being taken in by your lungs and flowing around your body.

When you have taken in as much oxygen as possible breath out slowly. As you breath out squeeze your upper abdominals towards your lower abdominals while making an “ssss” sound like a snake.

Repeat this ten times when you wake up and ten time before you go to sleep. You will find yourself more relaxed with an improved digestive system and well toned abs. Enjoy!

Would you like to be able to control your blood pressure? I have created a hypnosis session that teaches you a visualisation trick to help you control your blood pressure, whether it’s too high or too low…

Dealing With Depression

Jon Rhodes
UK Clinical Hypnotherapist Jon Rhodes

Dealing With Depression…

Depression is a common problem which effects hundreds of million people worldwide. It often goes undiagnosed.

At best some feel “a little blue”, but at it’s worst depression is debilitating and fatal. Around 15% of people who are clinically depressed take their own life. Suicide is the eighth leading cause of death in America with approximately 40,000 deaths and 550,000 attempts.

Symptoms of depression include – feeling miserable and tired, not enjoying activities you once took pleasure in, anxiety, thoughts of suicide, feeling like a failure, loss of confidence, aches and pains with no apparent physical cause, feeling you have no future.

I would like to stress that, if you feel you are suffering from depression, please go and see a doctor. They are very helpful with such matters and can point you to local counselling sessions.

Dealing With Depression2 main types of depression

There are many different kinds of depression. They stem from two main types. One, which is caused by a negative event in your life, known as psychological depression. The second has no apparent cause or reason. This is called existential depression – and is the most common.

Psychological depression is the easiest to overcome, as you know the root of the problem. It is important to step back and look at the event that triggered the depression. It may be the death of a loved one, a divorce, job loss or any other setback.

With existential depression it is more difficult as you do not know the cause. Two things are important in these cases – how bad the depression is, and how long you have been suffering. This kind of depression is harder to deal with, as others aren’t as understanding or sympathetic.

These two types of depression branch off into many different kinds of depression. This includes – Postnatal depression, manic depression, seasonal adjustment disorder, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, postpartum depression, atypical depression, major depression, dysthymia and more. These can all be treated with various kinds of medication. However drugs do not treat depression, only the symptoms.

Antidepressants are only effective in one third of cases, partially effective in another third and have no effect in the other third. A lot of people who are prescribed antidepressants do not finish the course because they find the side effects to be more unpleasant than the depression itself. It is a documented fact that sufferers of depression who are treated by antidepressants alone, relapse 80% of the time.

How you can deal with your depression

What should you do to deal with depression? The first two things you should do are tell a doctor, and tell a family member. If there are counselling sessions available (these are usually free), go to at least a handful to see if they work for you.

A change of diet and lifestyle may also help. The high sugar in sweets and excess fat in snack foods can send your mind “haywire” as it is constantly monitoring hormone and chemical levels. Maintaining a balanced diet of foods such as fruits, vegetables, cereals, yoghurts, fish, lean meat and pulses will improve both your physical and mental health.

Try and exercise for thirty minutes everyday. This can be as simple as taking the dog for a walk, joining a yoga, tai chi, or aerobics class. When you exercise your brain releases endorphins that produce a sense of well-being and make you feel happier and energised.

Since 2004, the UK’s NHS has recognised meditation’s ability to help depression, anxiety and pain…
